Remember When.....Pencil Portraits

I was 16 years old when I discovered that God had gifted me, first with the ability to paint and later, the ability to draw.  Over the years I've painted numerous oil and acrylic paintings on canvas, as well as a variety of murals for businesses (orthodontist offices, x-ray labs, schools, etc), and family dwellings. I have also painted internationally.

Recently, however, I put down my paintbrush and picked up a pencil.  As I began to draw, I found that I absolutely loved it and have been unable to put my sketch pad down for any length of time!  In drawing various subjects over the past year, I've discovered that I have a very real passion to draw people in a setting that will bring back wonderful memories that can be cherished for a lifetime....thus the name "Remember When." 

As an example, I share the above photo of myself playing in the downpour of a tropical rain storm on Corn Island while on a Mission trip to Nicaragua.  It was wonderful to play in the rain like a child (with my other grown-up friends) feeling completely uninhibited and getting absolutely drenched.  Someday I plan to draw this photo as a self-portrait because it will always make me feel good to see it and to remember how I felt at the time.  

Drawing portraits from photos that reveal tender moments in the lives of children, parents, friends, pets, etc. is what I long to share with you.  While a face portrait alone can help us remember a person, I believe that capturing a special moment as well will bring a smile to your heart and/or your loved ones heart for years to come.  

I hope you will allow me to draw your special memory or a picture of someone you love (perhaps as a gift).  I know that it will be treasured and shared with all who see it.  It's a great way to take a walk down memory lane.
